Mr. Burris and Mr. True, along with the IIKA Board of Directors, would like to encourage you to help support a fellow Karate-Ka and his family. To up-date everyone on Sherry Wood, Woody’s wife, she has begun chemotherapy for lung cancer, and is hoping for a good report from her next scan. Also, she is scheduled for an operation in the coming weeks. Mr. Denny Shaffer, Woody’s instructor, provided us with additional information that we thought all of you would like to know, especially since many of you have inquired about the family’s financial situation. Woody is self-employed, and as you can imagine, has missed a great deal of work to be with Sherry. Additionally, they do not have insurance coverage to help with any of the pending expenses. Although Woody and Sherry have not asked for any financial assistance, they can certainly use the help. Mr. Shaffer has been in contact with Mr. Kelly Markham and Mr. Wayne Wayland; both of whom have agreed to help Woody and his family raise donations. Given the nature of the economy, everyone is working to make ends meet as best they can. If you can give anything at all, please prayerfully consider helping Woody and his family. A lot of money from a few is not required; however, a little money from a lot of us will help greatly. If you cannot help financially at this time, please continue to pray for Sherry and Woody. We encourage you to pass this request along to your churches, benevolent associations, friends or anyone you feel would be in a position to help and have the desire to do so. Please also include Sherry and her family on your church Prayer Lists.
