The position was offered to Mr. Gabbard at the association’s third quarter Board meeting held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 in Niota, Tennessee. Mr. Gabbard is a long-time Isshinryu competitor, instructor, Board member and loyal IIKA supporter. Mr. Gabbard not only reflects the IIKA’s current philosophies but represents a brand of young, new leadership poised to lead the association forward.
